Instructions

  1. Clean the Cooler

    • 1

Mix one tablespoon of bleach with one gallon of water and a few drops of dish soap inside the cooler.

    • 2

Scrub the cooler with an old rag or sponge. You may need a scrubber or brush to clean the corners of the cooler where dirt accumulates.

    • 3

Rinse the cooler thoroughly. It's probably best to do this outside, either with a hose or with buckets of water brought from the sink. Rinsing a cooler indoors can be messy.

    Deodorize a Cooler

    • 4

Wet a paper towel with about one half teaspoon of vanilla extract. Imitation extract will work just as well. You can dampen the paper towel first with a very small amount of water to ensure the vanilla spreads onto the portion of the towel you will use to wipe the sides.

    • 5

Wipe the extract on the entire interior of the cooler, paying special attention to corners and to the lid.

    • 6

Place the paper towel with the vanilla on it in the bottom of the cooler, and leave it there overnight. This should eliminate any unwanted odors in your cooler.

Tips & Warnings

  • To avoid developing odors in your cooler, clean it immediately after each use.

  • If your skin is sensitive to bleach, wear gloves while cleaning cooler.
