This pencil box can be used to hold your most precious accessory. You can make these and give them away as gifts or even cover them with your favorite wrap and put on display in your home or office. Let the kids join in on the fun and let them make gifts for their grandparents.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Thick card, 9 by 13 inches
  • Wrapping paper
  • Paper adhesive
  • Scissors
  • Sharp craft knife
Step1
Cut two pieces of card 2 inches wide and two pieces of card 1 inch wide and about 5 inches long. These pieces will be used for your longest sections. Cut two cards using the same measurements for the width and 4 inches and 1 inch long.
Step2
Place the wrapping paper with the right side down on a flat surface. Place the card pieces side by side on the paper. Ensure that there is space between each piece. Trim the paper to about 1 inch of the card on the side edges. Trim the paper to the same level as the card on top and base edges.
Step3
Roll each holder so that the paper joins to the center of one side. Place the holders together and stick them in place. Ensure that the seams are hidden on the inside
Step4
Cut a square card about 4 inches. This will be used as your base. Stick the paper to one side of the card under it. Stick the holders to the center to the uncovered side of base. Cut strips of the card to fit in to spaces between the holders and the outside edge.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you choose to do so, you may cover the pencil box with plastic, to provide extra protection.
