How to Get Pregnant After a Tubal Ligation

Tubal ligation is a fancy term for "getting your tubes tied." This is done to prevent a woman from getting pregnant. While this procedure is thought of as permanent, there are ways to make it not-so-permanent if you change your mind. While your chances of getting pregnant after a tubal ligation are less than before the procedure, by no means are your chances of conceiving out of the question. Many women become pregnant after tubal ligation surgery, and you can too. There are a couple of different ways in which women can become pregnant after sterilization. This guide explores those two options and helps you prepare for pregnancy after a tubal ligation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Fertility specialist
  • Healthy foods

Step1
Consider a tubal ligation reversal. Perhaps the option that makes most sense is a sterilization reversal. While this is a serious procedure, requiring women to stay in the hospital for a few days, it is cheaper and more effective than the other alternative.
Step2
Mentally prepare yourself for a significant amount of time from sterilization reversal to pregnancy. Even the most fertile women can take six months to conceive. For other women, it could take years.
Step3
Eat a balanced diet and exercise each day. To maintain your optimal fertility level, keep your body healthy and at the right weight by eating a diet including plenty of fruits and vegetables. Also, make sure to exercise each day to reduce stress and decrease body fat.
Step4
Boost your partner's fertility. Male fertility should not be ignored. Both you and your partner should promote your fertility together. Refrain from alcohol and caffeine consumption. Also, your partner should stay out of hot tubs and wear boxers instead of briefs.
Step5
Undergo in vitro fertilization. In Vitro should really be the last resort for pregnancy after a tubal ligation. This is when a doctor physically injects fertilized eggs into your uterus. It is extremely invasive, expensive and has a fairly low success rate. However, if you want to maintain your sterilization for the future, in vitro is an option to consider.

Tips & Warnings

  • Women with a cauterized tubal ligation may not be able to conceive naturally after a tubal reversal.
  • Ectopic pregnancies are more common in women who have experienced a tubal ligation reversal. Contact your doctor when you become pregnant immediately to rule out this extremely dangerous condition.
