    How to Draw Sonic Running

  1. Step 1

Draw Sonic's head and body and position them so Sonic is leaning towards the direction you want Sonic to be running.

  2. Step 2

Draw one of Sonic's legs so the top portion extends forward at about a 90 degree angle from his body. Then draw the bottom portion of the leg so it is pointing down. This is the leg that is driving forward.

  3. Step 3

Sketch in the boot on this leg. It will be suspended in the air. You can add some action by pointing the boot upwards slightly at the toe.

  4. Step 4

Draw Sonic's other leg, which will be planted on the ground and thrusting him forward. It will be slightly bent, and the boot will be bent too, with only the toe portion in contact with the ground. Sketch in the heel portion so it is angled 45 degrees from the ground.

  5. Step 5

Draw Sonic's arms. The arm on the opposite side of the forward pointing leg will be pointing backwards at a slight angle, and the arm leg on the opposite side of the leg on the ground or thrusting leg, will be pointed forwards. Draw in the hand so it is finding balance in front of Sonic, and protruding nearly straight out from the body, parallel to the ground.

  6. Step 6

Draw lines of motion for the legs and arms to indicate speed and movement.

Tips & Warnings
  • Put more action into your drawing by exaggerating the angles of the arms and legs. Add drama by adding a determined expression on Sonic's face.
  • Look at several pictures of Sonic running before you attempt to draw him in this pose. There are several ways to do it, but your legs and arms must be positioned in a realistic way.
