Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Mild Facial Cleanser
- Retin A
- Lotion or Night Cream
- Sunscreen
- Micro-abrasion Scrub
Step1
Get Retin A. Retin A is only available by prescription. Talk to your doctor or dermatologist about why you feel you need to use Retin A. Many doctors will only prescribe it if you have significant sun damage or adult acne.
Step2
Wait until bedtime. Most doctors recommend using Retin A in the evening before bed to obtain the most dramatic results. Retin A encourages collagen production which intensifies as we sleep.
Step3
Wash your face. Before applying Retin A wash your face with a mild soap or facial cleanser then pat dry. Use an alcohol-free cleanser to avoid additional irritation.
Step4
Apply Retin A once daily. Dab a pea sized amount of Retin A on each cheek and your chin. Smooth the cream or gel onto your face paying close attention to wrinkled and discolored areas. Do not allow the cream to get into your eyes.
Step5
Apply lotion or night cream. After the first few weeks your skin may become very dry and flakey. Make sure you use a high quality lotion or cream on your face every morning and at night after applying Retin A.
Step6
Exfoliate. After your skin has adjusted to the Retin A exfoliate your skin once weekly. Use a fine micro-abrasion scrub to remove any dead skin cells that are present. Continued use of Retin A will dramatically reduce wrinkles and improve your skin tone.
