Turn your computer on and hook up to the Internet. Go to Annual Credit Report website where you can get one free credit report with score per year. You want to use this site verses other sites because this site gives you your credit report from three major companies instead of just one. Those companies are Equifax, TransUnion and Experian.

Choose your state and click "Request report."

Provide all of your personal information and click "Continue." This site is VeriSign secured so you don't have to be nervous about inputting your personal information. The company has also been around for a long time and has an excellent reputation.

Review your credit report and total score from all three companies instantly. Use the following to understand your credit score: 750 to 800 is excellent, 660 to 749 is good, 620 to 659 is fair, 359 to 619 is poor.

Really good article. There is such a lot of misleading spam about credit reports. Thanks for answering a few questions I had!
