How to Make a Low-Fat Protein Drink
Protein shakes are expensive, and while it's easy to make your own, the ingredients--such as peanut butter, ice cream and sugar--can be high in fat and calories. There are alternatives, however. This article will show you how to make a low-fat protein drink. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 cup plain fat-free yogurt
- 3/4 cup nonfat milk
- 1 cup fruit of your choice
- 2 tbsp. vanilla powdered soy protein concentrate (or whey protein)
- Ice
- Blender

Remove seeds from the fruit (if you are using fruit with large seeds). Peel the fruit and use the knife to cut it into small pieces if necessary.

Pour 3/4 cup of nonfat milk into the blender. Add yogurt, fruit and protein powder (or whey). You may wish to use frozen fruit for convenience, or more than one type of fruit. You may also choose to use flavored yogurt instead of plain.

Blend the mixture until it is smooth and as thick as you prefer. If it comes out too runny, consider adding more fruit.

Add ice for added thickness and texture. This step is optional. You can even use frozen fruit juice as ice. Continue adding ingredients until the shake is exactly right for your taste.
