How to Format Text for Titles in Premiere Pro

One very handy function of Premiere Pro is the ability to create titles. Titles are also known as credits, and can include any type of text, including title of your movie, names of your actors and crew, and even subtitles. They can be created using any font available on your computer, and you can add logos, photos and other graphics to customize your movie. Here are several ways you can adjust the fonts of your text for various effect.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Open Premiere Pro and your project with the edited sequence of video clips.

  2. Step 2

    Create a new title, or double click on an existing title in your Project Panel window to open the Title Editor window. To create a new title, go to the File menu at the top of your workspace, and select “New” then “Title.” Type a name and click "OK."

  3. Step 3

    Locate the font control options in the window. The controls indicate options for changing font name in a drop down menu, size, type of alignment, color and more. These are located in the panel above the drawing and editing area. You can change the font and other options at any time, provided you select the text with the appropriate tool.

  4. Step 4

    Select the text already typed in the drawing area with the selection tool and then click on the drop down menu to choose a font name. You may also choose the appropriate name before you begin typing the text.

  5. Step 5

    Change the characters in the Font Browser by going to the "Edit Menu" at the top of your workspace, and then "Preferences" and "Titler."You may type up to 6 characters. Click "OK" when finished.

  6. Step 6

    Select the text and go to the "Title Menu" and then "Size." You will see various font point sizes to choose from.

  7. Step 7

    Select the text and go to the "Title Menu" and then "Orientation" to change the direction of the text. Options are "Horizontal" or "Vertical."

Tips & Warnings
  • You may access the menus in your general workspace while the title editing window is open.
