One very handy function of Premiere Pro is the ability to create titles. Titles are also known as credits, and can include any type of text, including title of your movie, names of your actors and crew, and even subtitles. They can be created using any font available on your computer, and you can add logos, photos and other graphics to customize your movie. Here are several options on how to alter and format your text to achieve various effects.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Premiere Pro and your project with the edited sequence of video clips.

  2. Step 2

Create a new title, or double click on an existing title in your Project Panel window to open the Title Editor window. To create a new title, go to the File menu at the top of your workspace and select “New” then “Title.” Type a name and click "OK."

  3. Step 3

Type in a text title using the “T” tool in the tool box. To change the orientation of the title, meaning to make the direction vertical rather than horizontal, click on the "T" tool with the downward pointing arrow next to it.

  4. Step 4

Create a “text box” by choosing the selection tool and dragging it through the drawing area. Type in your text using one of the text tools, then choose the "Selection" tool again. Click outside of the box. The text inside will wraps when it reaches the boundaries of the text box. You can resize the text box with the selection tool.

  5. Step 5

Click the "Path Type" tool or the "Vertical Path Type" tool to type text along a pre-specified path. This tool works similarly to how you might draw with a pen tool. Click in the drawing area where you want the text to begin, and click or drag to a second point.

  6. Step 6

Continue to click points along the path you want to create until you have achieved your desired shape.

  7. Step 7

Type in your text. As you type the text will begin at the top edge of your path. You can adjust your path by clicking on and dragging the anchor points.

  8. Step 8

Choose the "Selection" tool and click outside the text box to finish. Save by closing out of the window and saving the project.

Tips & Warnings
  • Creating titles should be one of the final steps of your project. You will want to wait until your edit is complete before creating and placing them in your edit, otherwise you may end up creating extra work for yourself.
