How to Create a New Title in Adobe Premiere Pro

One very handy function of Premiere Pro is the ability to create titles. Titles are also known as credits, and can include any type of text, including title of your movie, names of your actors and crew and even subtitles. They can be created using any font available on your computer, and you can add logos, photos and other graphics to customize your movie. Titles can be created from scratch or templates.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Premiere Pro program, and your completed sequence. Go to the File Menu at the top of your workspace and then to “New”, and then “Title.” You may also go directly to your Title menu at the top of your workspace, and then choose “New Title” and “Default Still.”

    • 2

Type in a name for your title in the pop-up window. Choosing a name for your title is very important, particularly if you are planning to create multiple titles. The name should be descriptive of what the text in your title is. After specifying the name for your title to be identified as, and then click OK.

    • 3

Use the Titler’s text icon to type the content of your first title. The font options are very similar to many other programs. You choose the font and size from drop-down menus, and center or align your copy. Choose the arrow tool to click on and move your text around within the window.

    • 4

Close the title window by clicking on the “x” in the upper right corner. Your title will appear in your project window, identified by the name you gave it. Save your project to save the work done to the title.

    • 5

Click on the name of the title in the project panel window, and drag it directly to the Timeline to place it in the sequence.

    • 6

Edit the title after it is initially created by double-clicking on it in the project window. This will reopen the Title Editing window.

Tips & Warnings

  • Creating titles should be one of the final steps of your project. You will want to wait until your edit is complete before creating and placing them in your edit, otherwise you may end up creating extra work for yourself.
