Using cold water during a laundry cycle is now more energy efficient, as well as better for your clothing. Many laundry detergents are now made for cold water cycles and clean just as effectively as hot water. Switching from hot water to cold water will extend the life of the clothing, as well as save money on your next electric bill.
Laundry hamper
Begin by gathering all of the dirty laundry throughout the house and putting it into a hamper for easy transferring to a washing machine
Detergent made for cold water loads
Add water until the bottom of the machine has about 2 inches of water, and then add laundry detergent. The best option to choose from is detergent made specially for cold water. Depending on the size of the load, add as much as suggested. There are lines on the cap that can indicate "1" for small loads, "2" for medium loads, and "3" for large or heavily soiled loads.
