Add Effects in Windows Movie Maker

Windows Movie Maker is a software program in which you can create movies from either still pictures or videos that you have taken. In Windows Movie Maker you can add effects to make your movie more interesting. This allows you to add creativity and increase the hold of the attention of the viewer. Here you will see how to add effects in Windows Movie Maker.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on the term view video effects. This term is located in the upper left box under the heading “Edit Movie.” After you click on this term the center box will display all the effects that Windows Movie Maker offers.

  2. Step 2

Click on one of the effects. Move your cursor to the right and push the play button that is located in the video box. The video box is the box that displays your pictures. It is all the way to the right. By doing this you will be able to see how each particular effect performs. You will then choose various ones. You can use the same one throughout your video or use different ones for each picture or video.

  3. Step 3

Drag the effect that you want to use down to the storyboard and place it where you want it to appear. You may want to start out with one before your story even begins. Place one in the beginning to fade in to your picture or video.

  4. Step 4

Click Edit and Undo at the upper left portion of the page to undo any effect that you decide not to keep. This undo option will delete the last step that you did.

  5. Step 5

Click on the actual picture on the story board and drag it to the left or right to either lengthen or shorten both the picture and the effect’s duration.

  6. Step 6

View how your effect will look with your pictures by clicking on the play button on the storyboard. This will show you how your video will actually be seen.

  7. Step 7

Click on the actual effect. Right click and hit delete on any effect that you would like to delete. You then can either leave it without a transition or add a different one. However you choose to make your video using effects through Windows Movie Maker, be creative and fun.

Tips & Warnings
  • • Remember to add credits at the end of your movie.
  • • Add Transitions between pictures to allow your video to play smoothly.
  • • Don’t forget to save your video so you do not lose all that hard work.
