Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is a computer language that is used to create web pages. Websites and web pages are written in HTML code. Whether you are setting up a personal or a business web page, learning HTML code can be very beneficial. Knowing how to use the codes can help you manipulate your page settings. HTML documents contain plain text and have the extension .html or .htm. The newest version of many browsers supports extended fonts. This guide will teach you to change the type of font using HTML. It presents a very simple approach to customizing your page.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Start your word processor or text editor that you will use to create your web page.
Step2
Type "<FONT FACE=” " and the name of the font directly in front of the text that you desire to change. If you would like to specify a second font name, type a comma and press the space bar. Type your second choice.
Step3
Type " “> " at the end of the font name to complete the font tag.
Step4
Type the words " </FONT> " at the end of the text you are changing.
Step5
Type " </P> " at the end of your paragraph. Your text should like the example below.<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Balloon company</TITLE></HEAD><BODY><H2>Balloons</H2><P><FONT FACE=”Arial”> Balloon company has been in business for a number of years. The main goal is to make balloons. </FONT></P>
Step6
Open a new web browser and display your new font. As you continue to make changes, refresh your page to display the new changes.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may indicate more than one font type just in case your original choice is not available on a viewer’s computer. The most common font is Arial.
  • Try not to make your page font-dependent, because the older versions of many browsers don’t support certain fonts.
