Things You'll Need:
- Table salt
-
Step 1
Vacuum your home's carpets thoroughly. Sprinkle table salt liberally all over your carpets. Fleas and larvae will eat the salt and dehydrate and die.
-
Step 2
Leave salt down for a week or less depending on whether you live in an area of high humidity; the higher the humidity, the greater the chance of large numbers of fleas.
-
Step 3
Vacuum your carpets thoroughly again after a week, and you should have no more fleas.

on 10/7/2009 What do I use to get fleas off of my bed? I have psorasis and now I have flea bites. so much itching.
I put salt on the carpet and hoping it works. This weekend we will take everything out of my room and clean the rug and vacuum and then put salt down again.

on 9/17/2009 You also have to treat the pet, correct? Also do the fleas do the same in the furniture?

on 6/12/2009 I am in desperate need of help. I put the salt down this morning and took a broom and raked it into the carpet, but now the fleas are still jumping and seems like they are worse now. Is this normal? I have 3 children and i really am trying to avoid chemicals and to be truthful, i have no money right now. Someone please help. Thank you
