Illinois is known for its rich farmland and flat lands. While the roads may seem to go on forever without very many hills, there is plenty to see in this state. Sight-see wild animals and endangered species with your children at the Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington, Illinois. Check out the endangered Sumatran tiger, bald eagles, red wolves, and even a red panda. Learn about animals in the area and why some of them have become endangered. This could be a great learning experience for the entire family.

Go back in time with your children, or if you are a teacher, take your classroom to the Lincoln Log Cabin in Lerna, Illinois. Visit the two room cabin and a living history farm. Some of the objects in the room are artifacts from the 1840's. Learn about what life was like on the farm for Abraham Lincoln. For classrooms who visit, children can get a chance to learn to cook, make wax candles, and the boys get a glimpse of some hard work on the farm.

Listen to some classical music and view art at the Krannert Art Museum and Kinkead Pavilion in Champaign, Illinois. This is a wonderful experience for music students or those in band. Listen to the orchestras int he Champaign area. Also there is artwork such as Oriental paintings, photography, glassware, and scultpures. Get in touch with your art side at the Krannert Center.
