    How to Knit Tassels

  1. Step 1

Measure the length of yarn needed to create tassels. To create tassels that are six inches long, you will need one foot strands of yarn.

  2. Step 2

Using a piece of cardboard or a ruler cut the pieces of yarn so that each length is the same. You can choose how many pieces of yarn to use. For larger tassels, use many pieces of yarn. For smaller tassels, use less.

  3. Step 3

Line the pieces of yarn in a row so they are uniform in length. Fold pieces of yarn in half.

  4. Step 4

Use a crochet hook to create small holes between the stitches on your knitted piece. Take a piece of yarn and hook the loop using the crochet hook.

  5. Step 5

Use the crochet hook to insert the yarn through the holes you created. Unhook the crochet hook. Take the ends of the yarn and pull it through the loop. Pull the yarn tight so the tassel will stay in place. Continue to add pieces of yarn to the same hole until the proper thickness is achieved.

Tips & Warnings
  • Measure the holes you make so they are evenly spaced. This will help create a professional finish.
