Instructions

  1. How to Make Paper Stars

    • 1

Begin by choosing the color of construction paper that you would like. Using construction paper instead of regular paper will give the added stiffness that you will need for making either style of paper stars.

    • 2

Use a template found here www.Enchantedlearning.com. For the direct link to the template click on the first resource listed at the end of this article. This template can be used for both the flat paper stars and the 3D paper stars. Print two templates out.

    • 3

Cut one of the templates out avoiding the flaps. You will want to cut only the star out and not the flaps. This will be used for your flat paper star.

    • 4

Cut the other template out this time, include the flaps. Carefully cut around the star completely; keeping the flaps intact with the star.

    • 5

Place the cut out templates on the colored construction paper. With a pen carefully trace around the templates. Be careful to hold the star down as you trace around it. Trace the one with the flaps two times so that you will end up with three stars total.

    • 6

Carefully cut out each paper star that you have traced on the construction paper. This is the end of your steps for the flat paper stars. However to complete your 3D paper star, continue with the next steps.

    • 7

Fold the flaps under the star. Then carefully fold along the crease lines that are on the star. This will help the star have a puffed up look. Do the same for both of the stars.

    • 8

Place glue on the flaps and stick the flaps of one paper star on to the other paper star; so that the insides of the paper stars are facing each other.

    • 9

Add string on the top of the paper star with glue. This will allow you to hang your paper star wherever you chose to do so.

Tips & Warnings

  • • Allow the 3D paper star to dry for few hours or even over night. The heavier the paper the longer it needs to dry

  • • Try using reflective paper to give your paper stars a more reflective sparkly look.
