Golf is a very complicated game wherein the player must be prepared to hit a number of different types of shots. One of the most common is the lay up, which is used to place your ball in good position for a follow up shot. It is usually a good idea if you have a choice between a high risk shot and playing it safe. So, this tutorial will focus on how to hit one properly.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Lofted Iron
  1. Step 1

Select a lofted iron. Your club selection will vary depending on how much distance you want to gain on the shot. Again, this is about placement rather than distance, so be careful not to overestimate.

  2. Step 2

Place the ball in the middle of your stance.

  3. Step 3

    Grip the club normally.

  4. Step 4

Take a regular backswing and hit the shot at 3/4 normal speed.

  5. Step 5

Follow though. If executed correctly, the ball should pop up into the air, and land right in your target zone without too much roll.
