1
Write a list of all of the toiletry items you use on a daily basis. Tape a piece of paper taped to your medicine cabinet or mirror for a week and write items down as you use them. Some essentials might include shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, makeup and shaving items.

2
Consider where you will be staying and what items might be available there. For example, if you are visiting your mom you might not need to pack shampoo or toothpaste. Also consider how long you will be staying. You probably won't need tweezers for an overnight stay.

Think about things that you don't necessarily use on a daily basis but really need to have at the ready. This might include pain relievers, feminine products or prescription items such as an asthma inhaler or migraine medication.

Pack some things that are nice to have in case of emergency, as long as you have the room in your toiletry bag. These might include a stain treatment stick, a sewing kit, a thermometer and medicine for upset stomachs or those dreaded late-night ear aches that sometimes afflict kids.

Place liquids and creams inside of Ziploc baggies. Tuck your deodorants and bars of soap in one of these baggies. Throw in some baby wipes and perhaps a roll of toilet paper or package of tissues as you never know when these might save the day.
