There’s nothing quite like healthy, shiny hair to enhance your appearance. No matter how you like to wear your hair, it should feel smooth and have a healthy shine. But when it comes to oily hair, sometimes it seems that there’s no way to avoid getting that greasy look as the day progresses.Good news! Essential oils can help you manage and beautify your oily hair. It is best used at bedtime, to allow several hours for your hair and scalp to absorb them.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pure essential oils
  • Hazelnut oil
  • Plastic bottle with cap

Take Care of that Oily Hair

  1. Step 1

Buy only Hazelnut oil that is specifically designed to be used for massage. It has been specially refined and prepared for use on the skin. You can get it at health food stores and online.

  2. Step 2

Choose 100% pure essential oils-only these offer healthful benefits. The label will state "100% pure." You can find them at health food stores and online. Don’t use synthetic oils-they do not have the same benefits.

  3. Step 3

Measure two tablespoons (30ml) of Hazelnut oil into the plastic bottle.

  4. Step 4

Mix the essential oils with the Hazelnut oil. Add 8 drops each of Lemon, Lavender, and Petitgrain essential oils. Shake well.

  5. Step 5

Massage the formula into the hair and scalp. Use approximately one teaspoon at one time – you can use more if you have long hair. Wrap a towel around your head and leave on overnight or for several hours to allow for absorption. Use the formula 3 times a week until you have the desired results.

  6. Step 6

Wash your hair. A natural shampoo is preferable, available in health food stores, as these are gentler on the hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to make a larger batch of oil, simply increase the proportions, such as doubling or tripling the amounts. The massage oil will keep.
  • Store all oils in a cool dry place. Keep the lids firmly closed to prevent evaporation, and keep away from sunlight.
  • For anyone with sensitive skin, dilute the essential oils even more.
  • Do not use essential oils if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant without getting professional advice.
  • If any skin irritation occurs, stop using immediately.
