This level of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is well named--you will absolutely be feeling the heat by the end of this level. Each level of Call of Duty 4 ramps up the difficulty, and this level is no exception. You and your small team will face an entire enemy army with unlimited waves of backup and be expected to survive. The objective in this level is to inflict as many casualties on the enemy as possible for as long as possible while waiting for extraction.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • XBOX 360 or PS3
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  • Bullets. Lots of bullets.

    Defense line one

  1. Step 1

Lie prone at the edge of the bluff at the bottom of the hill with your team. Get in a good position with a good field of fire.

  2. Step 2

Wait for the signal to start shooting. There will be plenty of action in this level, so there's no point jumping the gun and making things harder.

  3. Step 3

Lay into the attacking enemy forces with your SAW. Concentrate on enemies out in the open, even if some enemies reach cover. You will be able to do far more damage by preventing more enemies from reaching cover than you will attempting to pick out enemies who are already in cover.

  4. Step 4

Watch out for enemies with RPG's. These should be your priority, as they can take you out with one shot.

  5. Step 5

Fall back when you get the signal. Stall for even ten seconds and it's doubtful you will survive.

  6. Defense line two

  7. Step 1

Take up a position behind the mini-gun in the downed helicopter.

  8. Step 2

Watch the heat gauge. If the mini-gun overheats the enemy will have a lot of time to advance on your position.

  9. Step 3

Don't wait for enemies to emerge from the smoke. You have unlimited ammo with the mini-gun, and smoke can't stop bullets. Don't forget about the church either--the wood walls wont offer the enemy any protection from the powerful chopper-mounted gun.

  10. Step 4

Fall back when you get the signal.

  11. Defense line three

  12. Step 1

Get inside the cabin near the top of the hill. Your team will take up defensive positions around the house.

  13. Step 2

Go around to the window sills on the top level and detonate the C4 as enemy forces advance up the hill. Don't bother with your own weapons--once the C4 has been detonated, it will be time to move on.

  14. Step 3

Fall back when you get the signal.

  15. Defense line four

  16. Step 1

Fall back to the barn and take up a defensive position. The enemy will attack from two directions: across the dirt field and across a grass field on the other side of the small shed.

  17. Step 2

Rearm yourself. There are P90's in the shed and sniper riffles in the barn. Sniper riffles are most useful at this stage, but ditch your SAW for the quicker P90.

  18. Step 3

You will have to defend the barn for a predetermined amount of time. Hit your sniper shots and you won't have much trouble. All of your teammates will concentrate their fire on the dirt field, so take a position in the shed and defend the grass field.

  19. Step 4

Run into the barn and grab the Javelin when you receive word of of enemy armor. You only have a small number of Javelin rounds, so if you miss a tank and run out you will have to make a stab with RPG's.

  20. Step 5

Get ready for some bad news. It turns out the barn is too hot for the extraction chopper. You will have to make your way all the way back down to the bottom of the hill. Against an enemy army. In four minutet.

  21. Mad dash

  22. Step 1

Target the far side of the dirt field with your new air-strikes. Wait for the second bomb to fall before starting out--the bombs are just as deadly to you as the enemy.

  23. Step 2

Sprint across the dirt field. There is a small shed on the left: duck inside.

  24. Step 3

Target the next air-strike just downhill from the shed, but not close enough that it will kill you. You will have to do some shooting to keep the enemy at bay until the bombs drop.

  25. Step 4

Sprint down to the cabin that held the C4.

  26. Step 5

Target your next air-strike between you and the next closest building.

  27. Step 6

Sprint downhill toward the building and run through it for a brief respite from enemy fire. At this point you are so close to the extraction point that it's better to just make an all-out dash for the bottom.

  28. Step 7

    Climb into the extraction chopper.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't bother waiting for the enemy to get to the highlighted areas when setting off the C4 at the third defense point. It will take forever and you will likely be overrun before you get a good blast. Just set them all off and fall back once again.
  • The only reason you have a chance at reaching the bottom of the hill is because of your air strikes. Use them often--it's unlikely you will run out.
  • When it's time to fall back, IT'S TIME TO FALL BACK. Stay and your position will be overrun very, very quickly.
