Let's face it. You bought too much Halloween candy. Don't worry; it happens to the best of us. You really did mean well, it's just that there weren't as many trick-or-treaters this year. All that candy doesn't have to go to waste. There are several ways you can turn those leftovers into something fun.

From Quick Guide: Halloween Treats
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Bake a cake. Many chocolate varieties of Halloween candy can be added to cake batter. Chocolate bars and candy coated chocolate pieces can turn any store-bought cake batter into a delicious dessert. You can even use a few pieces to decorate the frosting so that everyone knows what kind of cake it is.

  2. Step 2

Decorate a pan of brownies. If you have Halloween candy leftover that matches the fall colors, use it as decoration. No one will ever know that the beautiful fall design you created was made using leftover Halloween candy. All you need to do is prepare an inexpensive brownie mix and think of a design. This is a great dessert to bring along to fall potlucks.

  3. Step 3

Use it for crafts. Candy corn can be used to create beautiful fall crafts. For example, you can make place card holders by pouring the corn into votive candle holders and adding a decorative label. You could also pour it into a larger candle holder to make a centerpiece. Both of these ideas would be wonderful for fall entertaining.

  4. Step 4

Save it for Thanksgiving. As mentioned above in Step 2, Halloween candy features a fall palate. That means that you can use it decorate Thanksgiving desserts. You could also use it to decorate the platters as well. For example, a bed of candy corn would be perfect for cupcakes.

  5. Step 5

Donate it. If you have several bags of leftover Halloween candy, do the right thing and donate it. There are homeless shelters and food banks that would love to have it. Plus, you'll feel good knowing that it's going for a good cause.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a frosting that matches the candy you use. For example, make a peanut butter frosting if you use peanut butter cups.
  • Store-bought candy has a long shelf life. Many varieties will last up to a year.
