How to Make a Down Pillow

Creating a down pillow is easy and often cheaper than buying one. These down pillows are ideal for people who sleep on their side or back.

Things You'll Need

• Two pieces of material measuring 22" x 28"
• One bag of down filling
• One white spool of thread
• Pins

Instructions

1. Lay the material out on a flat surface and pin the unfinished sides together. You will need to leave an area open so you can stuff it; this is usually on one of the shorter ends.

2. Sew the short side just to the left of your opening, and continue around the pillow making a ½" seam until you come to a spot about 10" from where you began sewing. Remove the pins from the material and turn the fabric right-side out through the hole you created.

3. Place the down filling into this hole until the pillow is full. Shake the pillow as needed to distribute the down filling. Slip-stitch the opening to close it, and your pillow is complete.

Tips & Warnings

• Put the pillow in a pillowcase or slipcase to extend its life.

• Do not allow the pillow to get wet, as mildew will set in and ruin it.
