Creating a down pillow is easy and often cheaper than buying one. These down pillows are ideal for people who sleep on their side or back.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two pieces of material measuring 22" x 28"
  • One bag of down filling
  • One white spool of thread
  • Pins
  1. Step 1

Lay the material out on a flat surface and pin the unfinished sides together. You will need to leave an area open so you can stuff it; this is usually on one of the shorter ends.

  2. Step 2

Sew the short side just to the left of your opening, and continue around the pillow making a ½" seam until you come to a spot about 10" from where you began sewing. Remove the pins from the material and turn the fabric right-side out through the hole you created.

  3. Step 3

Place the down filling into this hole until the pillow is full. Shake the pillow as needed to distribute the down filling. Slip-stitch the opening to close it, and your pillow is complete.

Tips & Warnings
  • Put the pillow in a pillowcase or slipcase to extend its life.
  • Do not allow the pillow to get wet, as mildew will set in and ruin it.
