How to Tie Do Rags
Tied do rags (also spelled "doo" rags) are commonplace with car enthusiasts. Often, a do rag is used as a symbol, one that differentiates automotive shops, car clubs and bikers. So, learning how to tie one properly is the first step to setting ones self apart from the crowd.

1
Purchase a scarf. It can be a packaged do rag, handkerchief, or short scarf. Just be sure it’s one that can be tied around your head. Usually, if you read the packaging or ask a sales clerk, you can figure this out before you leave the store.
-
2
Lay the do rag flat and open on a flat surface. A table or vanity surface are great for this step. You want to make sure the surface is big enough for you to manipulate the scarf on and see all of the edges.

3
Turn the do rag counterclockwise until it visually looks like a diamond. Do this while it is still laying flat.
-
4
Fold the do rag in half. Complete this step by grabbing hold of the top of your diamond (do rag) and pull it forward until it falls over to the bottom of your diamond (do rag). Make sure it is folded equally in half.
-
5
Pick your do rag up by the folded edges and turn it face forward over your head. Visually, the flat straight edge should be facing forward while the pointed edge is to the back.
-
6
Pull the sides of your do rag that are closest to your ears under your head. Then tie them together into a knot until you achieve a snug and secure fit. Be sure the remainder of the top of the do rag is lying flat. It can lie over or under the knot.

Tips & Warnings
Visit a biker shop or go online to the internet to find a wide variety of do rags.
Wash your do rag on a regular basis, especially if you work in an auto shop. If you don't, you'll be placing a scarf full of germs over your head on a regular basis, which might lead to an illness or parasitic invasion.
