A nice, roaring fire is always nice to have on a cold winter night, but sometimes starting that fire is a little more difficult than you thought it would be. The first step in starting a fire is to gather some kindling, but what about when you don't have the time or means to go outside and scrounge up some kindling? You can create kindling logs with paper towel rolls using these steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper towel rolls,
  • Newspaper
  • Scissors or shredder
  • Tape
  1. Step 1

Shred or cut up some old newspapers. An office shredder works well for this, but scissors will work just fine too.

  2. Step 2

Tape over one end of a paper towel roll so that it is closed.

  3. Step 3

Stuff the paper towel roll with the shredded newspaper. The more you can pack down in the tube, the longer the roll will burn, so cram as much as you can inside.

  4. Step 4

Tape over the top end of the paper towel. The log is now ready for use.

Tips & Warnings
  • Stuff the roll as full as you can so it lasts longer.
  • Make several logs in one sitting and store them for later use.
  • Use one log at a time until you know how well they burn.
