How to Put a Magazine Together

Magazines are extremely popular with most adults and teenagers. Heck, even a lot of kids get a kick out of getting a magazine especially for them every month. Maybe you dream about being able to be a part of one of these magazines and having input in the design and organization of it.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a master list of upcoming issues, the special features, cover story, events and so on. Then make a detailed outline of what will be in the upcoming issue.

    • 2

Assign articles and stories to writers. Give the photographers their assignments as well. Set due dates and stress the importance of having their assignments in on or before the set dates.

    • 3

Contact the advertisers and confirm their commitment to the magazine for the following month. Collect payments and get their ads if they have changed from the previous month.

    • 4

Collect all the assignments and pass them on to the editors. When they have all been edited take the assignments and put them into your software design program. Place all the items and ads into your template.

    • 5

Print a sample copy. Have it edited and proofed for errors. Make any necessary corrections. Send the manuscript to the printers.
