Did you know that toothpaste can be used to rid your face of acne? Toothpaste works well on acne because it dries out pimples fast. The reason why has to do with the mint ingredients in the base formula of many popular brands. If you ready to give this homemade remedy a try, here’s what to do.

From Quick Guide: Basics of Toothpastes
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Toothpaste
  • Adhesive bandage
  • Mild soap
  • Water
  • 2 towels
  1. Step 1

Buy a tube of toothpaste. Avoid the ones that are gel or formulated with tartar control. The brand you should go for is one like Colgate (original formula) or Crest. These toothpaste brands are the popular ones people use to get rid of their acne.

  2. Step 2

With your finger, apply a dab of toothpaste over each pimple. Be sure the dab of toothpaste is enough to cover each pimple completely. It will promote optimum “drying” speed.

  3. Step 3

Place an adhesive bandage over each pimple. If you are suffering with a lot of acne, you can skip this part. The bandage mainly helps keep the toothpaste in place over the pimple, so it’s an optional luxury of convenience.

  4. Step 4

Allow the toothpaste to go to work drying out your acne. The time it takes to dry it out varies from person to person, yet you can count on letting the toothpaste sit for at least two hours. You will know it is at work because you will feel a tingling sensation.

  5. Step 5

Gently wash your face with mild soap and warm water. You need to do this after your acne is dried out. Be sure to remove the bandages before you do it. The goal is to get rid of all of the excess toothpaste on your face in order to prevent any irritation from prolonged use.

  6. Step 6

Pat dry your face with a towel and be sure to get all of the water and mild soap off of it. Also, pat off any toothpaste residue that might still be on your face.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid using tartar control toothpaste for this home remedy because the chemicals in it are too harsh.
  • If the tingling on your face turns into a burning sensation, wash off the toothpaste immediately. It is a sign that your face is having an poor reaction to it.
