      Check the corn itself. Does it look plump? Check the silk at the very top of the corn plant. there should be a dark brown color at the very top. If this is the case, your corn is ready to be picked and put in the pot.

      Check the exact ripeness if you feel it may be to soon. You can do this by making a small slit in the husk of the corn near the top. Puncture one of the kernels. If the liquid that comes out is translucent or cloudy then it is ripe and ready for picking. If it is clear or thick and opaque then leave it for a while longer.

      If the corn is ripe then simply remove it gently from the plant. If done correctly it will not harm the stalk of corn. When corn is picked it is essentially ready for cooking. Although you can keep it for some time.
