Determine what color scratch cover to use. Touch-up makers come in many shades like light, medium, dark and reddish wood stains. Liquids often come in light or dark shades of wood.

Make sure the surface of the wood is clean and dry before beginning the repair process.

Using the liquid scratch cover is quick, easy and it covers beautifully. You might want to use rubber gloves to keep your fingernails and fingertips from getting stained. Dab a little bit of the liquid scratch cover on a cotton ball and lightly wipe it over the scratch, going with the grain of th wood. Apply as much as necessary to cover the mark.
