Halloween is a time for ghosts and goblins. It's a time to enjoy a good scare, but children are more easily scared than you might think. Choosing the wrong movie can give them nightmares. The key is too keep scares to minimum and choose a Halloween movie that is appropriate for their age group. In this article, you'll discover a few easy steps that ensure Halloween remains fun for all ages.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep it PG. Even PG-13 movies can be too rough for small children. Instead, you want to choose a Halloween film that gives them a few scares, but also includes a bit of comedy. Children may claim that they can handle blood and guts, but before you know it, they'll be crawling into your bed and complaining about nightmares.

  2. Step 2

Rent the classics. Classic Halloween movies are sure to give your children a good scare, but not enough to give them nightmares. Black and white classics such as the Wolf Man and Dracula are perfect for kids.

  3. Step 3

Introduce them to your childhood favorites. Remember the specials you used to watch every Halloween? Specials that include characters from the Sunday comics are perfect kids. Plus, these are the type of movies that children of all ages can enjoy.

  4. Step 4

Choose a cartoon. You can't go wrong with cartoons. Cartoons add a few scares, but they also keep screams to a minimum. Children will get spooked, but they'll also laugh. Visit your local video store and see what's available. Your best bet is to choose movies that have their favorite characters.

  5. Step 5

Find a movie with a happy ending. Many scary movies for adults end with the audience wondering what happened to the monster. This is not appropriate for children. Kids will stay awake wondering if the monster is coming for them next. Instead, choose a film that ends on a happy note.
