Thirsty for beer but there's no bottle opener in sight? By learning how to open a beer with other things you might have within reach in your kitchen, like a fork, you will be one step closer to refreshment.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Beer bottle
  • Fork
Step1
Hold the beer bottle by the neck close to the cap. Grip the bottle tightly and make sure the condensation does not cause your hand to slip. If you are right-handed, hold the bottle in your left hand.
Step2
Grip the fork in your right hand with your palm wrapped around the tines. Wedge the fork's handle lengthwise between the bottle cap and the lowest, largest section of your index finger. You may have to readjust your left hand grip higher or lower on the bottle neck to accomodate.
Step3
Using your index finger as a fulcrum, push the end of the fork in your hand down, twisting slightly so the fork's other end engages with the bottle cap. Apply slow steady pressure rather than one quick effort until the cap pops off.
Step4
Pick up the cap, which may have flown far, and enjoy the refreshing beverage.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check that the beer bottle does not have a twist off top. These caps are harder to pop off and can instead be taken off with a gentle twist.
  • Do not drive your car after consuming alcoholic beverages.
  • The cap may fly off at a considerable pace so watch out for your eyes and those of others around you.
