How to Spend a Day in Little Five Points, Atlanta

Get a cup of joe at Aurora Coffee, an independent coffeehouse and local favorite on Moreland Avenue. Stop by Accapella Bookstore on Euclid Avenue for a great selection of used books.

Take a walk around Inman Park, the oldest suburb in Atlanta, which houses many beautiful Victorian homes and tree-lined streets. Every April, the neighborhood hosts a large street festival, complete with house tours, an eclectic parade and many vendors selling their wares.

Eat a meal at The Vortex Bar & Grill, which serves what many claim to be the best burgers in the city. Try favorites like the Double Bypass Burger and have one of many beers on draft, or a cocktail. The establishment turns to a biker bar at night.

Visit Junkman’s Daughter, which carries a full inventory of costumes, vintage clothing and wigs. Psycho Sisters, a few stores down, is also a good bet for similar wares. Crystal Blue, a family-owned and -operated shop on Euclid Avenue, features gems, minerals, crystals, jewelry and candy.

Visit the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum at The Carter Center. Within the library and research facility, you can find archival materials and over half a million photographs of the former president. The center encloses a 37-acre retreat and hosts many special events, in addition to being the site of an international partnership between the Carters and Emory University.

Walk, bike or jog in Freedom Park, the largest public green space set aside in a major metropolitan area. It runes from Little Five Points through Inman Park, and borders the Martin Luther King, Jr. historical district. Through a partnership with the PATH Foundation, the park features six miles of trails and walkways, with scenic views of the cityscape and in-town neighborhoods.
