Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Tarot cards are divided into four suits in the minor arcana: Cups, Swords, Wands and Pentacles. The suits represent the four natural elements of water, air, fire and earth. These meanings can be further interpreted to signify emotions, mental and psychological concerns, challenges and possessions.

  2. Step 2

The suit of Cups represents the natural element of water, and denotes the emotional and creative side of personalities. This suit provides the means to look for the love, happiness, imagination and artistic ability that reside in each of us. The suit of Cups represents the artistic side of our nature and our ability to appreciate poetry, music, food, drink and feelings.

  3. Step 3

The suit of Swords symbolizes the second natural element of air. This suit indicates action, progress and intellectual matters. Swords represent the problem-solving part of your mind, and will relate to your dreams or nightmares. Swords represent the written or spoken word.

  4. Step 4

The suit of wands represents positive energy or fire. It is also known as the suit of Rods, and embodies the creativity of a human soul. Wands represent progress, optimism and a desire to succeed. They signify the energy inside you that drives you to accomplish tasks. The suite of Wands is linked to your ambition, career, religion and philosophy of life.

  5. Step 5

The suit of Pentacles represents the element of earth. Pentacles stand for health, money, work, jobs and business-related matters. The suit of Pentacles encompasses the solid things within your life.
