How to Play Ringgz

Ringgz is a quick game for 2 to 4 players played on a 5-by-5 board. Each player has one color of rings, and attempts to take over a majority of spaces. The game is simple enough to play, and can even be played with young children. However, there's also enough hidden strategy that even adults will find it interesting.

Instructions

    • 1

Give each player all the pieces of one color--this includes 3 sets of rings and 3 blocker pieces.

    • 2

Place the rainbow piece in the center of the board, and select a player to go first.

    • 3

Play one of your pieces onto the board on your turn. You can either play one of the large blocker pieces, or any one of the 4 ring pieces of 4 different sizes. Pieces may only be placed on a space next to a piece of the same color. The rainbow piece counts as every color for this purpose.

    • 4

Place pieces on either an open space or a space that has room for the size ring you are placing. For example, if a space already has the 3 larger rings on it, the only piece you could play there is your smallest inner piece.

    • 5

Avoid playing 2 of your large blocking pieces next to each other, as this is illegal.

    • 6

Continue playing until no player can legally place any more pieces. Once this point is reached, the game ends.

    • 7

Score the game by first removing all large blocker pieces from the board and then looking at who has a majority of rings on each space. Score 1 point for each space on which you have more rings than any other player. Spaces where 2 players are tied do not count for any points. Whoever has the most points wins!

Tips & Warnings

  • Ringgz is fast enough that you can play a few games in a row!

  • Don't lose the plastic bags that come with the game, or you may find it hard to keep track of the little ring pieces.
