Drawing a street from the sky is easy. From whatever angle the image is being viewed, perspectives remain the same. With a vanishing point, a top down street with buildings can easily be drawn. This is an important how-to for those learning perspective.

  • Photoshop program
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

Instructions

    • 1

      Draw two horizontal parallel lines. Draw three lines that intersect in the center of the page.

      Draw additional lines extending from the vanishing point to the lower left corner of the the drawing. Draw some horizontal lines connecting two of the diagonal lines on the lower left hand corner. This will represent the bottom of the building.

      Draw an additional line to create a building in the top right hand corner of the drawing. Draw a vertical line to represent the side of the building.

      Draw additional lines in the top right hand corner of the drawing. Draw a horizontal line connecting two of the lines. This will represent the bottom of the building.

      Draw additional lines in the bottom right hand corner and connect some of the lines with horizontal and vertical lines to represent the bottom and sides of the buildings.

      Draw two additional parallel lines to represent the road. Shade one side of each building, the sidewalk and the road different shades of grey to make them pop out.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure that your lines extend from your vanishing point or connect lines that extend from your vanishing point. The only exception to this are the horizon lines and street lines.
