• New toner cartridge

1. Purchase a replacement toner cartridge. The toner cartridge in your printer should have some identifying information, such as a part number, that you can use to identify the type of toner cartridge you need. As your toner begins to run low, some printers will send a message to your computer that includes the part number for the replacement.
2. Open the door to the toner cartridges locate the cartridge that you need to replace.
3. Remove the old toner cartridge. You might need to snap the toner cartridge out of place. Follow the instructions provided with your printer if you have difficulty removing the old toner cartridge.
4. Take the new toner cartridge out of its wrapper. Rock the toner cartridge back and forth a few times. Remove the protective cover.
5. Snap the new toner cartridge into place.
6. Close the printer cover. If you have installed the toner cartridge correctly, then the printer cover should close easily.
7. Your printer might need to be aligned after changing the toner cartridge. Follow the instructions provided by your printer for this task.

• Recycle your old toner cartridges. Some companies provide postage paid envelopes for this purpose. You can also donate used toner cartridges to an office supply store. Some office supply stores will give you a store coupon for each toner cartridge that you donate.
• Wear older clothing when replacing toner cartridges. Toner has a way of getting onto a person’s hands and clothing and can stain your clothes.
