How to Have a Tie Race

We have all been to a party or reunion or church meeting or a gathering of some kind where the kids seems to run wild. At those times it is only a matter of time before the entire throng of kids come flying up to you, demanding with their eyes to be entertained. Well, no more will you have to resort to juggling oranges or lame jokes; you can have them race ties.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two ties

    It's a photo finish...It's, it's, it's a tie!

  1. Step 1

    Tie the tie around the necks of the two people interested in racing each other.

  2. Step 2

    Get them excited by talking up the importance of this race, what it means for the winner, past winners you have known and other memorable perforamnces. Maybe you are undefeated or you have the fastest tie this side of the Mississippi.

  3. Step 3

    Have each of them roll the fat part of their tie all the way up until it is tucked directly under their chin.

  4. Step 4

    Raise your hand in the air and tell them to wait for your 'mark'.

  5. Step 5

    Count to three and then say "go."

  6. Step 6

    Watch as their ties race downwards toward the finish line.

  7. Step 7

    Allow for speculation of who won, then pronounce the winner: It's a tie."

Tips & Warnings
  • For added excitment, make it a photo finish, taking a picture of the ties as they race downward. You can also have two people holding an actual finish line made ou of string across the belly's of the participants.
  • Make sure the younger kids do not tighten the ties to the point of cutting off their breathing.
