How to Visit San Francisco Using the Vallejo Ferry

Taking the ferry from Vallejo to San Francisco is much less stressful than driving or taking other forms of public transportation. You'll avoid all the highways and pass many of San Francisco Bay's famous sights on your way, including China Camp State Park, Angel Island, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.

      Arrive at the ferry building at least 15 minutes prior to departure. The address is 289 Mare Island Way, Vallejo. The city offers free parking across from the terminal and most local bus routes also stop at the ferry building. ATM and most credit cards are accepted.

      Choose which of the two San Francisco destinations you would like to ferry to, San Francisco Ferry Building or the Pier 41 Ferry Terminal. Most ferries stop at both destinations. Search the schedule for the one that works best for you.

      Purchase your tickets at the ticket office located at the ferry building. You may buy one-way tickets, a daily or monthly pass.

      Enjoy the one hour ferry ride every day of the year, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although reservations are not accepted, groups of 15 or more are asked to call the ticket office ahead of time.

  • Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis. Senior and children fare is $7.50.

  • Saving seats for others on the ferry is not allowed.

  • Make sure you check the return ferry schedule so you do not miss the last ferry.
