How to Make a Natural Flea and Tick Repellent for Pets

It’s horrible when your pets are plagued with fleas and ticks. It wreaks havoc on the carpet, linen and everything else in your home your pet comes in contact with. It’s also disheartening to watch them struggling to scratch in discomfort. But the horrid smell of most store-bought flea and tick repellents isn’t much better. You can make your own natural, herbal scented flea and tick repellent for your pet with a few quick and easy steps. It’ll smell great to you, but little critters can’t stand it.

    Things You'll Need

    • Castile soap
    • Water
    • Rosemary
    1. How to Make a Natural Flea and Tick Repellent for Pets

        Wash your pet with castile soap and warm water.

      • 2

        Dry your pet thoroughly.

      • 3

        Mix up an herbal rinse by adding a ½ cup of fresh or dried rosemary to a quart of boiling water.

      • 4

        Steep the mixture for 20 minutes.

      • 5

        Strain the rosemary and cool the solution.

      • 6

        Spray or sponge the rinse onto your pet’s coat liberally and massage into skin.

      • 7

        Allow to air dry. Do not towel dry as this will wipe off the rosemary residue.
