How to Make a Tie Dyed Slip Dress

These slip dresses are all the rage and can be easily made from home with just a few supplies. You can find vintage and one-of-a-kind slips by scouring garage sales and thrift stores. Things You'll Need

• Silk slip (Can use nylon)
• Fabric dye of your choice
• Mild detergent
• Rubber bands
• Squeeze bottle(s)

Instructions

1. Pre wash and dry the slip according to tag instructions. If needed, iron.

2. Fold slip lengthwise in an accordion style. Tie rubber bands tightly around folded slip every 2-4 inches to form a log.

3. Fill squirt bottle with water and saturate each section with water to help dye adhere to fabric.

4. Mix dyes if necessary and pour into squirt bottles. Saturate the fabric with dyes. Try mixing and matching colors to see what you come up with.

5. Let fabric set for 1 1/2 hours, re-saturating fabric every 30 minutes.

6. Wash fabric according to tag instructions and let air dry.

7. Remove rubber bands to reveal your pattern. Iron to set in the dye.

• Add rhinestones in a random pattern to enhance the beauty of your dress.
