Visit thrift stores, consignment shops, and any other second hand stores near your city. These stores have new merchandise coming in every day and you can find a shopping cart full of bargains if you don't mind doing a little cleaning and restoration. You may even find exactly what you're looking for at garage sales and flea markets. Negotiate the prices of the things you want and walk away with a lot of interesting things for your new Goth room.

    • 2

Purchase anything and everything that even remotely resembles Goth decor. Pick up candelabras, crosses, and old picture frames that have a lot of decoration, even if you don't particularly care for them. With a little metallic silver spray paint, you can turn almost any metal or wood into a Goth work of art!

If you've found a picture frame that you think may look great in your Goth room, buy it. You can make a really ornate scrying mirror for just a couple of bucks that will impress even your most critical friends. Separate the frame from the glass and paint the frame with metallic silver or red spray paint. Clean the glass using streak-free window cleaner and be sure it's pristine before continuing. Using black spray paint, spray one side of the glass evenly, let it dry completely, and spray it again. The unpainted side of the glass should face outward when you reassemble the frame giving you a beautiful, black reflective surface.

Snatch up black and red fabrics to accent the room. Look in the bedding department for satin or velvet bedspreads or lace scraps and use your imagination to incorporate them into your décor.

Be on the lookout for antique furniture that can be refinished and embellished to accentuate your Goth room. With a little sanding, some dark wood stain, and a few inexpensive, wooden furniture accents, you can make almost any old furniture look like a Gothic masterpiece! Stop by your local home improvement store to take a look at the furniture accents they have available that may give your furniture character. Choose the designs you like, paint them with metallic paint, and attach them to the furniture using wood glue for a really unique conversation piece.
