Find a B-boy-qualified coach to teach you. The best way to learn the B-boy style is by someone who knows how to do this form of dance perfectly. Learning how to do many of the B-boy dances are difficult and can be dangerous if not monitored closely by someone who is qualified to teach you.

Learn to Toprock. Toprocking is what a B-boy does while dancing upright and shuffling when entering into a dancing circle. This usually involves quick two stepping with your feet and swinging or waving your arms back and forth.

Practice Downrocking. Downrocking is your footwork. It refers to dancing down on the floor. The hands and feet are usually on the floor while doing this style of dance. The B-boy shows off his proficiency with foot speed and control by performing footwork. The six step is the most used downrock, and it goes into more athletic moves also known as power moves.

Learn Uprocking moves. Uprocking is performed while standing. The moves incorporate various styles of dance where the B-boy fabricates ways of beating the opponent by using fictional weapons or re-creating fictional embarrassing moments for the opponents. When this is successfully done, it is called "burring" your opponent.

Get a crew together. Your crew can consist of two or more b-boys or b-girls who dance together either simultaneously or separately. Having your own crew can hype you up while dancing, and you can learn to do cool tricks with them. Not only is a crew there to help you out on your moves, but you can go into battling other crews together.

Start battling. Battles are an integral part of B-boy culture. It can be a cypher battle or an organized battle. Both types of battles are head-to-head confrontations between crews or one person. The goal of a battle is to out dance the other.
