Instructions

  1. Making the salt water weed killer and using it

    • 1

Fill a kitchen pan with 2 cups of water.

    • 2

Place the pan on the stove, and turn the burner on high.

    • 3

Pour 1 cup of salt into the water.

    • 4

Remove the salt/water mixture from the stove as soon as it begins to boil.

    • 5

Pour the mixture right on the weeds, making sure you get plenty around the base and roots. The high salt content in the water will kill the weeds.

    • 6

Repeat the process, and pour salt water on the weeds again the next day. If it happens to rain soon afterwards, wait a day or two so the ground isn't saturated with rainwater (this dilutes the salt greatly) and then use more salt water.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't boil the water until you're ready to use the mixture immediately, you don't want it to cool

  • Wait one week before you re-plant in the area you treated for weeds. You need to give the salt water time to dissipate

  • You can make more of the salt water mixture by doubling the recipe as needed, just keep the water to salt ratio at 2 parts to 1

  • Make sure you don't get any of the salt water near your prized plants, it will kill them too!

I'm giving this a try right now, but I'm adding some vinegar too. As I seen many people suggest it. I have weed under my deck that I can't get too. I'll write back in a few days and let you know how it turned out.
