1
Spread the word. The old saying "the more, the merrier" is definitely true when putting together a preschool play group. Tell your friends who are parents of preschool children, and tell them to tell their friends. Before you know it, your play group will be full of preschool children.

2
Keep it organized. With all of the children, come parents who have special talents that can be put to use. To keep things organized, assign jobs to parents who are trustworthy. For example, assign a parent to be in charge of collecting money for activities, assign another parent to keep track of attendance, and most importantly, assign a parent to photograph the outings.

3
Plan activities. Pre-plan special activities for each month. It is best to plan events several months in advance, just so everyone will know what to expect each month. Some activities that preschool children would enjoy are: going to the movies, bowling, or mini golf.

4
Decide to charge or not to charge. If you are out to make some extra money, set a monthly membership fee. The membership price should include the cost of any events or activities that the group will be attending. Charge a little over the actual cost of the activity and pocket the remainder of the cash.

5
Create mini-classes. If you plan on meeting with your play group weekly, recruit parents to hold mini-classes of either a craft, story time or show and tell. If you meet weekly, you will have to keep the creativity juices flowing. The children will get bored too quickly if they meet at the park each and every week. To keep your group alive, you will have to keep the interest of the children and the parents.
