The right limo can make a world of difference. It can make an everyday occasion fabulous, but too cheap a limo can spell disaster. How much you spend will depend on what you expect to get. You can find less expensive limos without them being “cheap.”

1. Try not to wait until the last minute. If you need to entertain a client or go to the airport, don't leave it to the 11th hour to find a cheap limo. Limo services are notorious for taking advantage of people who are in a hurry.
2. Open your Yellow Pages. You will be able to find cheap limos in any city in the country by using your telephone book. Call one or several services and talk with a customer-service representative. Ask about company or student discounts, travel packages and membership services. In some cities, people who are AAA members can get serious discounts. Call an airport or travel agency and ask how to use either your travel points or frequent-flier miles to find cheap limos.
3. Try to find online reviews about a limo service or company. Some sites will direct you to individual services in your area. Certain sites also have information about where to rent, lease or buy cheap limos.
4. Get references. If you plan far enough ahead, you should be able to collect references from a limo company you are considering. Obviously, look for people who have something positive to say.
5. Run a public-record check at your local police department or DMV. For little or no cost, you can run a criminal or driver check on just about anyone. Your local courthouse will be another source of information, as well.
