There is hardly a better way for a newbie or an experienced athlete to get a great total body workout than with the pulsing, fast music of jazzercise. Jazzercise allows you to release your inner inhibition and go with the musical flow, all while getting a great workout.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start out slow. If you haven’t exercised in quite some time, it’s best not to overdo it. Begin with a small workout to prevent injury. Don’t be fooled by the jazzercise fluid body movements. It’s still a workout, and if your body isn’t ready for it, you must take it slow.

  2. Step 2

Warm it up. In order to get a total body workout with jazzercise, you must warm up before going into the full thrust of the exercise. Start out with getting your body warm and your heart pumping to get the blood flowing though your muscles.

  3. Step 3

Stretch it out. Once you’ve successfully warmed up, stretch your muscles. You’ll last longer if your muscles are warm and stretched. Nothing is worse than getting into the flow of a jazzercise routine only to stop dead in your musical tracks because you pulled a muscle due to lack of stretching.

  4. Step 4

Pump up the volume and get into the flow. Don’t fret if you don’t quite have the moves down pat. Keep moving and stick with the beat. The more you workout with jazzercise, the better your movements will get.

  5. Step 5

Use the total body. To get a total body workout with jazzercise, include sweeping arm movements. Get your arms up over your head. For lower body toning, be sure to incorporate squats and lunges in your movements. As you get better with your routines, include weights for additional body toning.
