This spooky tunnel is a great place to find fake ghosts.

Open an existing picture of some spooky scenery in your Paint Shop Pro graphics software program. It is best to choose a picture of the type of place where it looks as if a ghost might actually hang out: a misty forest, a graveyard, a dark basement, or a shadowy tunnel are all good choices.

Isolate your human figure for the ghost picture.

Choose a picture with a person in it. It is best to choose one that is on the same size scale as the scenery graphic you chose previously. Use the background erase tool from the left side toolbar to erase all the backdrop and leave the human figure by itself. This picture is halfway done.

Open the layers palette in Paint Shop Pro by hitting the F8 key. Select the scenery picture by clicking on the top bar and then create a new layer by clicking on the "New Raster Layer" icon in the layers palette.

    • 4

Click on the top bar of the picture with the isolated human figure in it and select the person with the magic wand selection tool. Find this by clicking on the selection tool icon on the left side toolbar and choosing the magic wand icon. Click on the human figure with the magic wand to select it.

The ghost is now in the scene.

Cut the human figure from the graphic by using CTRL-X or copy it by clicking CTRL-C on the keyboard. Click on the picture of the scenery and paste the person graphic into it. Press CTRL-E to paste it as a new selection on the new layer in your graphic.

Select the Soften Brush from the left side menu and set the opacity at around ten percent by moving the slider bar displayed in the toolbar at the top of the Paint Shop Pro screen.

    • 7
Your spooky fake ghost picture is complete.

Move the opacity slider bar in the layers screen that you opened until the ghostly figure looks right to you. When your fake ghost picture is done, click on the Layers Menu at the very top of the Paint Shop Pro screen. Scroll down to "Merge All (Flatten)" and click it. This turns your picture into one layer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make up a spooky story to go with your photo.

  • Always insist you saw nothing there when you snapped the picture.

  • Never submit a fake ghost picture as real to serious ghost-hunting websites, magazines, or organizations.
