Go to Gelato Beach. You must have at least five sprites to do this. Travel to the lighthouse that is covered in black goop. Spray the goop away.

Fight the piranha plant that pops up. After defeating him, the entrance to Gelato Beach will be revealed. Go into the entrance.

Swim from the island you are on to the beach. Talk to some of the locals. They will tell you the secret of the dune buds.

Locate the lone dune bud that is surrounded by the enemy ducks. Spray this dune bud and a sand castle will appear.

Enter the sand castle. Shadow Mario will steal F.L.U.D.D. from you. You will be sent into a colorful but weird-looking level.

Work your way up the sand platforms. Be careful, they will disintegrate under you. Use the blocks, along with the safe red blocks, to work your way up to the sprite.

Tips & Warnings
When on the green platform in the sand castle, ground pound the nails. A 1-UP mushroom will appear.
Avoid the blue and red ducks in Gelato Beach. They will fling you into the air.
