It's every where you look. It's on the news, in the papers, even in your office through word of mouth. People are getting laid off and let's face it, that's scary. This country's financial status is on everyone's shoulders. Prices have inflated in grocery stores and hotels and airfare is just astronomical, not to mention the price of gas. But we will survive!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Confidence
  • Hope
  • Good network
  • upgraded resume

Step1
Keep a Budget. Now a days especially with the price of gas, people need to save money. Staying in control of what you spend, keeping a structured check book can help you in a way so you don't feel out of control.
Step2
Take risks. When businesses spend more money and take that risk, they usually have to hire people. These newly hired people now have more money to spend. They (hopefully) will use this newly earned money to buy new products.
Step3
Change your attitude. We can worry and forebode about the future. But, where does it lead? It leads to stress, more worrying, headaches, and a bad attitude. You are probably feeling despondent, that can make or break you. Although difficult, you must stay positive. Avoid going to that negative dark place. Take a few deep breaths, know you are going to be OK. Think of it this way
Step4
Put things into perspective. Know that you will find another job and things happen we can not control, so let it go. You do that and you will open space for something to flow into your life. If you resist, nothing really happens. If you ever notice, when we hold on tightly, we find ourselves in often, similar stages of depression and frustration. When you can accept that you can not control, you can find peace of mind and that is when things just start happening for us. Try it.
Step5
Be frugal not frivolous. But your basics, food, laundry, gas for your car. Pay your rent and bills. Don't but anything that you do not need.
Step6
Stop using credit cards.
Step7
Avoid ATM fees by using your own bank to take money out.
Step8
Cook home cooked meals. Say no to a night out if you know you can not afford it. If you do not need it do not buy it.
Step9
Avoid buying juices or water from a vender. Instead get a 6 pack of small waters at the grocery store and pack them.
Step10
Bring your lunch to work.
Step11
This summer, if you plan on vacationing, why not go to your own country home if you have one. If not, take day tips. Instead of paying $160 a night for 4 nights not including food, chill on the beach. Pack a lunch, grab your sun screen and call it a day.
Step12
Put things into perspective. Brooding and sulking won't help you. You need to get into survive mode. Stay strong and confident. You are worthy and self sufficient and independent. You have skills and would be a great asset to any organization. Update the resume you haven't in a few years, even that will help you.
Step13
Refresh your skills. Upgrading your skills can bring you confidence. If you have downtime instead of surfing or emailing friends, why not go into word or excel or power point and play around. If you haven't used these skills chances are you are rusty. make your down time constructive by educating yourself.
Step14
Upgrade your resume. Little things like upgrading your resume can help you feel a bit more secure and prepared.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember Panic is the enemy. A ressesion is worse when people begin to panic as they hoard money. This prevents them from buying goods from businesses. When that happens, the business is forced to cut costs. One way businesses cut costs is by laying off workers, hence lay offs. Now these workers have less money to spend on goods and the cycle continues. This just increases our chances of going into a recession.
