Legitimate Transcription Jobs

Struggling to find legitimate work at home transcription jobs? Whether your specialty is medical, legal, corporate, financial, general or other typist and/or transcription and work,

legitimate companies that hire home based transcriptionists do exist. Knowing how and where to find these jobs and companies is not as difficult as you might think.

Instructions

    • 1

If you don't have transcription education, training or experience - get it. Thanks to the Internet, education and training for a transcription career at home is easier than ever. Find an online school or program that offers transcription training.

    • 2

Decide what types of transcription work and jobs you are qualified for. Besides medical transcription work, there's a huge variety of other on-demand transcription work available in other fields such as: legal, financial, corporate, news, media, etc...

    • 3

Update and/or edit your resume. Get it current and looking it's best. The competition for work at home jobs can be fierce so you'll want your resume to stand out.

    • 4

Apply for work at home transcription jobs. Go to the "RESOURCES" section below and click on Work At Home Transcription Job Listings to apply directly to the companies that are hiring home-based transcriptionists. You can also search online job boards and sites that list current openings.

    • 5

Follow up. Don't just apply for jobs and vanish! Wait a couple weeks and contact each company to let them know you're eager and interested. When you contact them, either by phone or email or other, tell them that you're checking on the status of your application.

Get required and/or necessary transcription and dictation equipment and/or software. Each company uses different equipment and platforms so I'd wait until you actually get hired with a company before rushing out and spending a bunch of money. Many companies will reimburse you for equipment and/or software.

Tips & Warnings

  • Protect yourself from Work At Home Scams. A legitimate work at home job will never be advertised as an "income opportunity". More importantly, a legitimate employer will always require you to fill out an employment application and/or submit a resume but will never ask you to pay them a fee as a condition of being hired. However, having to buy your own equipment and/or software are legit expenses.

Thanks for the article. My neighbor just got a CD course from Ama*on on general transcription. She said it was pretty complete, but I'll try your suggestions first.
